Sudoku Solver
Type the given digits from any puzzle (a newspaper, a book, an app), then press Solve. It also checks whether the puzzle has one solution.
How to use the solver
Click the first square and type the digits row by row; the cursor moves on as you type, and the arrow keys move it anywhere. Leave blank squares empty. Press Solve to fill in the rest, or Check to see whether what you have entered so far still leads to exactly one solution, without revealing it.
Why a puzzle might not solve
- A clash: the same digit twice in a row, column or box, usually a typing slip. The solver tells you where.
- Too few digits: no proper sudoku has fewer than 17 givens; below that, there is always more than one answer.
- More than one solution: some badly made puzzles have several. The solver shows one and says so.
